What Our Directors of Safety and Security Do for You

Policy + Procedure

  • Develop and facilitate safety and training policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with leadership on the implementation of site assessment recommendations.
  • Develop security and safety plans for events that occur outside the workday. Train and provide resources for staff who oversee these events.
  • Manage safety mandates such as emergency drill planning and reporting, emergency operations plan updates and reporting and suicide prevention.
  • Assist with investigations in conjunction with leadership.
  • Coordinate emergency trainings annually, including AED, CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed
    and more.
  • Maintain emergency kits such as Stop the Bleed, go bags and team rosters.

Organization Safety Liaison

  • Serve as the organization’s liaison and work collaboratively with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Serve as incident response coordinator.
  • Coordinate with the organization’s communications team on matters involving public discourse and with the media on issues relating to safety and security.

Training

  • Lead staff trainings on various elements of security and safety, de-escalation strategies and critical incident response.
  • Develop and implement safety and security training for all staff as part of the new staff orientation process.
  • Run tabletop exercises and investigations training.
